One year on from the passing of label co-founder and artist Alex Smith, Flash as a Rat returns with its 6th instalment. Digby, co-founder and brother to Alex, continues the siblings' form for emotionally intelligent and sound focussed minimal. 'Briefmacken' bumps through waves of kicks and glitches to arrive at moments of peaceful clarity, whilst 'Constantly' swings with off kilter hisses and pops around a metallic organ sequence, making it's claustrophobic way towards a beautifully layered string section at the crescendo. The typically pared back artwork this time inverts the colour scheme from the brothers' first ever release on their own label, marking the record simultaneously the ending of one chapter and the beginning of the next.

Electro producer Shaknis inspired the early ideas of the EP using his analog equipment, creating a solid foundation for Egzotikka. A Cold Wave producer, guitarist, and songwriter formed the identity of this new analog post-punkish-sounding EP.80’s instruments such as classic Roland drums, Polivox, and Fender guitars were used to create the modern Lo-fi sound filled with lyrics about narcissism, toxic relationships, and super-ego driven by a strong belief in a fucked up society.This EP was recorded during the spring of 2022 in London, UK, and Šiauliai, Lithuania.

For release 13 on Subsequent we didn't have to look far, in fact just explored the incredible talent of the next generation producers within the UK. The result is striking. 4 powerhouses of tracks tailored for every situation on the club floors. A1 delivers a hell of a breaks track, whereas A2 goes into a more cinematic direction but no less powerful. B1 fires up the rolling acid while B2 is made for those heady late moments in the club.
