Roche Madame presents the first edition of Roche Noire, by Niko Maxen.
Berlin-based DJ duo and mobile record shop The Ghost launch their new imprint Ghost Recs. Long-time friend and associate DJ Pipe offers up four smoking-hot dance tracks for GRECS 001. Each cut with its own housey and unique flava, it’s a record to open your mind and move your hips.
One EP is the first release of newborn E2-E8 Records out of London. A label to celebrate friendship and put new talents on the map.Out of Luca’s E2-E8 show on Netil Radio came the idea to launch an independent imprint with the same concept: putting good new electronic music into people’s ears, and expose people whose creative voice has hardly been heard so far. The result is a label with a clear plan, with promising talents already lined up to appear on the platform.Fittingly, the first release is a split EP between two friends. On the A side we have “Rising Sun”, from the mind of Netil Radio founder Miro Sundaymusiq. This suspended, emotive number perfectly encompasses Miro’s world, where ambient rooms and rapturous deep trance seamlessly bond together. The Pacifist Techno Version is purely for the mind, while the Non Pacifist Trance Version engages your body and translates the same emotions to the dance floor. The B side is home to two Meditations from the creative flare of Avsluta, one of the most fascinating sound artists recently appearing on London’s scene. With performances at Cafe Oto and collaborations with David Toop already on her back, we are witnessing her charting a groundbreaking path. “Meditation 03” and “Meditation 18” are part of that path – two rich and articulate works that will sit easily in many ambient sets. The Digital Bonus “Meditation 16” sees the artist playing with her voice, in a way that reminds us of Donato Dozzy and Anna Caragnano’s “Sintetizzatrice” from a few years back.Early support for this record comes from Vladimir Ivkovic, who played Meditation 18 as the opening track of one of his Noods Radio shows, and from Jane Fitz who played Rising Sun on her Rinse FM show.
From 1995 comes Kenny Larkin's staggering long player 'Metaphor'. Larkin's 2nd full length under his own name sees the Detroit firebrand continuing his singular approach to techno and electronic music with this set of futurist leaning jams that still stands head and shoulders above today in 2021. Packed to the brim with soul, emotion and depth 'Metaphor' is the natural successor to 'Azimuth' released only the year before, it's the manifestation of Larkins 'techno soul' agenda laid bare through the fusing motor-city minimalism, driving techno-funk and deep as the ocean ambience and melody to deliver a truly original and awakened collection of timeless tracks. As with his other LPs and projects, this record is a remarkable document and testament to how ahead of the curve Kenny Larkin was / is as a producer and creator. It's quite hard to believe these signals were beamed down to us in the midst of the 1990's. The quality and breadth on display across these discs deftly explains why these records are so coveted and cherished today and why this expanded reissue is such an exciting proposition. File under 'essential Detroit'.'Metaphor' has been legitimately reissued for 2021 on Kenny’s own Art Of Dance imprint. Remastered from DAT tapes (with the exception of 2 tracks) and original sources by Curve Pusher. Designed by Atelier Superplus.
Part 2 of the As One series, this time with one of electro's most respected producers, E.R.P. aka Convextion, reinterpreting another 90s classic by the veteran UK producer. "Mihara" and "Shambala" were originally included in the As One's first album "Reflections", released on 1994 on New Electronica. "Destination Other" was featured in his LP "The Art of Prophecy", released on Shield Records in 1997. Our goal with these two As One releases was, not to make another reissue, but to recompile tracks from his discography into something new, also providing the reinterpretation by two legendary artists like Juan Atkins and E.R.P.. We hope you enjoyed the ride.
Protectorate is The Analogue Cops project focused on deep minimal sound and characterized by mental dance music. Protectorate productions are appreciated and played by artists such as Villalobos, Zip, Lutz, Francesco del Garda and Tanaka to name a few.
