Over the course of the year, the label has assembled four different compositions reflecting each artist's devotion and fascination for synthesizers and drum machines. Needs - Not For Profit moves into the future of vinyl production partnering with Green Vinyl Records in Holland to produce the world's first 100% recyclable record. With 4.3m vinyl sales in the UK last year (the 12th consecutive year of growth), it’s clear that vinyl is back in a BIG way. But the basic technological principles of record pressing have not changed for a century and it now poses a more urgent environmental concern than it did in the format’s heyday. GVR are a brand new pressing plant who have patented a revolutionary production method which uses injection moulding rather than steam energy, using 60% less energy than traditional vinyl production. It also uses no PVC (meaning it cannot warp), has a wider frequency spectrum & longer lifespan, and is a 100% recyclable product, meaning you can dispose of it in your home recycling bin. This big step in vinyl history features the production skills of Saoirse, Reptant, Sansibar, Pugilist, LUXE and Hassan Abou Alam.Join us as we change the future of vinyl <3
Spacetravel hits with his first outing of 2019 on Miami-Berlin label Hearing Colors second vinyl release. Four stripped down club cuts trademarked by Luca’s signature driving sound. A1 shows his 2 step influenced cowbell ridden flow whilst the A2 opens up in to peak time electro 4/4 . Tripped out B1 uses vocal cuts and a rolling acid bassline to maintain solid groove, before B2 brings that signature drive and punch that gets heads nodding. Mastered at Scape, Berlin with full colour artwork sleeve courtesy of Krikrak.
QphoriQ joins Fides Records with a 4 tracker Electro-Tinged EP named “Emerald Journeys”. Analogue synths, complex structures and pulsating drums are remarkable in QphoriQ style while a dj-friendly remix by label boss Z.I.P.P.O shows the eclectic nature of the label.
Amsterdam based DJ and producer Mayo joins the Fides family with her Frenemies EP marking the 15th release of Fides Records. Mayo showcases 5 cuts of finely crafted electro and EBM-influenced Techno, it's impossible not to be drawn by her distorted voice that defines each track.Unrelenting grooves and a deeper look into her analog sound design flair, these tracks are timeless in sound and production quality. “Tell me how you die” kicks it off as the A1 with stomping analog kick and drums, a dark jumping bassline pushing the groove with ethereal synths. “Not your shadow” as the A2 strips it back into a 303Acidbass-based track marked by singular industrial sounds and Vocal Shots that are lost in the groove carried by a background synth sequence that follows throughout the track. The last track of the A Side is “Frenemies” a pulsing, meditative composition featuring label owner and Tresor resident Z.I.P.P.O, who added to Mayo's energetic, analog and eventually dark sense, a more mental, deep and intense face typical of the Italian artist. The B Side starts with Miami Legend Danny Daze’s Hell Mix of “Frenemies” in which he exhibits his unique sound design techniques, combining tribal-tinged rhythm, sharp FX that pops up from the corners of the soundscape with stretched vocals in order to highlight the track's protagonist: a modulated brass bass. Mary Lake’s Remix of “Tell Me How you Die” closes the EP with a deep kick drum driven forward with rolling and modulated closed hats that run through the track while atmospheric
All Killer no Filler Vol. 1 is the first release of the Kö ln based label Mephis. On this first delivery we are handed a 4 piece compilation from young uruguayan producers, all with their particular sort of spiciness and playful mischief. Alfalfa’s Vectorial Dings opens the EP with rusty acidic tones, eerie pads, warped drum samples and an overall restlessness that creeps through your spine inviting you into the dancefloor. Techno met Acid, flirted with Breaks and slapped Electro’s butt.
